Electronic artist Clive Tanaka is suing the Princess of Rap over her song Starships. Nicki's producers: RedOne, Falk, Hector and Yacoub, are also named in the lawsuit. Being natives to Sweden these producers knew and heard of the song, because it was in syndication throughout the country in various television ads. Clive Tanaka's song called Neu Chicago was widely popular over in Sweden and his lawyer Christopher Niro says the songs are nearly identical. Nicki's camp has yet to respond but I assume this will be dealt with outside of court.

Having listened to the song I have to say it is the same music melody and arrangement except for the breakdowns. Listen below for yourself:

The music industry is no stranger to copyright infringement. This has happened before. The most well known is probably the one-hit-wonder rapper Vanilla Ice. He was sued for his song Ice Ice Baby. The song he ripped off was David Bowies - Under Pressure.  He won his case though because his song had one more hit on the snare drum than the original. An extra hit on the snare drum made the judge rule in Vanilla Ice's favor. Don't know if the scales will tip in Nicki Minaj's favor, the court system is fickle.

Here's My Advice:

Nicki, honey you should settle this out of court and pay this guy the money. Listening to the track it sounds like the producers ripped off his song without his consent. Just settle this quietly and no one will even know. Well no one but me and the few thousand people who read the
Chicago blog I got this from and the few people who read this blog, anyway just pay the man. It'll go away eventually and maybe he can be a producer for you since you like his music. At least it'll be legit, right? #imjussayin

Drake gets the honor of being the cover boy or rather man of XXL's 150th Issue! Big feature if you ask me. There is a pretty interesting interview in the magazine asking Drake questions that have yet to be answered such as the Amanda Bynes obsession, his new album's focus, and everything in-between. Check out a snippet from his 2 hour interview via XXLMag.com:

ON THE NEW ALBUM
I remember coming into this year thinking, “How am I going to cut through all these people and shine?” I’ve never been part of a year when so many legends are dropping projects. How am I going to be seen? I’m going to be like the kid waving in the background in the photo with all of his tall relatives. And, I guess, those were my initial thoughts, and not to say that I haven’t enjoyed some of the stuff that has come out this year, but it didn’t pan out the way I thought it was going to. I think I am going for it, to really establish what are murmurs or things being said quietly, “Um, I think that Drake might actually…” On September 17th I want people to be like, “Oh, we were right.”

ON HIS IMAGE
Do I think that if I didn’t have, for lack of a better term, a unique look about me, if I was from somewhere in America and if I hadn’t been on a kids TV show [Degrassi: The Next Generation], would I be as famous? I don’t know, man. Honestly, I don’t think so. I was just some young kid on a TV show. And I haven’t become anything else while I’ve been in this position. It’s not like I got here and was like, “Oh, got to switch up my image.” I don’t wake up nervous. I feel like maybe a lot of these guys do. How old are you, really? What is your background, really? What have you really done in the drug game, in the thug game?

ON THE COMPETITION
It’s tough for me. That’s a guy I can't pretend not to like. He’s the guy to me, in a lot of ways. That’s Kanye West. But I'm also here to be the best. I’m here to surpass. I’m here to outdo. I’m ready for whatever with anybody.

ON HIS SUCCESS
I get Jewish people coming up to me proud like, “Mazel Tov, bro. Come to my house for Shabbat dinner.”

AMANDA BYNES
I don't even know who that is doing that or what that’s about. If that is her, I guess it’s a little weird and disturbing. It’s obviously a behavioral pattern that is way bigger than me. Whoever is behind it, whether it’s her or somebody else, they know people are paying attention so they keep it going.

Justin Timberlake is on fire! He's got one of biggest albums in the country and another album is about to drop soon! Justin is also in a new movie with Ben Affleck called Runner Runner and he's covering the New York Times Style Magazine!

Congrats Justin! Hopefully I'll see you Dec. 12th in Cleveland at your concert, which just happens to be my birthday! What a Gift! LOL

K. Michelle is pushing past the masses and becoming a true star. This month K. Michelle is gracing the cover of Sister2Sister magazine! Some people are scoffing about her risque outfit. But I see nothing wrong with it. Besides I've seen Ms. K's King Magazine cover and lets just say this is kid stuff! LOL. Anyway Congrats K. Michelle I'm happy you're getting recognition. Keep the music coming and I will definitely keep supporting!

R&B Queen Toni Braxton had a concert in New Brunswick, NJ. She was performing and unfortunately the back of her dress fell down. Fell down low enough to expose her behind. A fan caught the footage and sold it to TMZ who of course blasted it all over the internet.

This video shows its not as bad as it seems. She has on flesh colored bodysuit so its not that bad.

So let's just get over it, it happened now move on. Besides Toni's no stranger to showing skin. You remember her 2001 Grammy Dress that showed damn near everything! She couldn't hide nothing in that. And from what I hear stylist Tameka Raymond was her stylist back then.

Chris Brown is in the news again but not for any beef or violent act. Chris suffered non-epileptic seizure during his while at the recording studio. What was the cause of this seizure? Insurmountable stress and negativity from former fans and non-supporters. At least that was part of the statement given by his camp after 911 was called and the paramedics examined him. Chris' doctor is the one who stated the cause of the seizures was high stress. According to GossipCop.com Brown released a tweet on Twitter saying:
 “They won’t love u until u r a memory…”
He also hinted in a tweet that his next album X, would probably be his last and then wrote,
“I’m tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18.”

Chris I hope you get better and began a MUCH NEEDED healing process. Good Luck, #RealTalk!

*Side Note: This is ALL ALLEDGED and Pure Speculation until I can confirm this info with true resources than it will and should be treated as nothing more than a really good RUMOR!*

Well I kind of saw this coming and hoped it would have came before R&B Divas LA but never the less its a strong possibility so I'm game. R&B Divas New York is in the works and here are some possible candidates: Lisa Lisa, Sunshine Anderson, Tweet, Blu Cantrell, and Adina Howard.

Nicci Gilbert and Faith Evans are considering Lisa Lisa as the anchor for Season 4 of R&B Divas. Since she is based in NYC and is of the iconic artists who bridged the gap of 80s R&B to 90s R&B music, they are hoping for a major YES. Lisa Lisa hasn't publicly or privately confirmed whether she will be on the show or not but she has admitted to being a huge fan of the show. So one can only hope lol, fingers crossed! Tweet was also questioned about her being apart of the show in an interview with a radio station and she was very much willing to make the move and be apart of the show. Sounds like if all the ladies are on board you've some of the cast pulled together.

Here's a Little Background on the Ladies in this Cast:

If you're not sure who Lisa Lisa is lets take a trip down memory lane. Lisa Lisa (and Cult Jam) has had numerous hits from late the 80s to the early 90s. Hits like "All Cried Out" (If your a 90s kid you might remember a group called Allure who remade the song with 112. Same name and everything.), "Head to Toe", "I Wonder If I Take You Home","Let the Beat Hit 'Em", and "Skip to my Lu".

I've heard most of Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam's hits. They were very popular and my father a music connoisseur had most of her albums. So as a child I grew up listening to Lisa Lisa. I liked her music and still do to this day. I'm glad she may be back in the spotlight. Lisa Lisa began a phase of music that forever changed how R&B was perceived throughout the late 80s and early 90s. She's a pioneer.

Sunshine Anderson is a R&B artist who came out in the early millennium. Her biggest hit was "Heard it All Before". One of my favorite songs by her to this day. Shes had other hits like "Lunch or Dinner", "Force of Nature", "Wear the Crown", and"Something I Wanna Give You"

Personally Heard it All Before was the only song I can remember Sunshine Anderson coming out with that was a big hit. I know she collaborated with a lot of artists like Anthony Hamilton and others like him but honestly I didn't think she was still doing music. I hadn't heard anything strong from since her first album. But if she does do the show I'd be really glad because Sunshine Anderson can really sing.

Adina Howard was a mid 90s R&B artist is best known for her sexualized image and provocative songs. Her biggest hit was "Freak Like Me". It peaked at number 2 on the US and US R&B charts, it stayed there for quite some time too. My father loved this song it was played on the radio all the time and he had the edited version because he didn't want us listening to the very provocative lyrics. After that she had some singles that were ok on the charts singles like "What's Love Got to Do with It (with Warren G)", "It's All About You", "My Up and Down", "Chocolate (Cuties & Condoms)", and "(Freak) And U Know It".

In 2011 Adina Howard got married and began living a totally different life. I'm sure she hasn't changed much though.
I liked Adina Howard but she was ahead of her time. She was like the Millie Jackson of the 90s. Very raw, very raunchy and sexually charged. Hope she's on the show.

Tweet is best known for her singles "Ooops Oh My" "Call Me" and "Smoking Cigarettes". All off the debut album Southern Hummingbird. Southern Hummingbird debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, selling 195,000 copies in its first week. It was preceded by the lead single "Oops (Oh My)", which reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. She was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2002 BET Awards, she also received a nomination for Soul Train Lady of Soul Award. In 2005 she released her single "Turn Da Lights Off" off of her second album Its Me Again. It didn't do as well her previous album debuting at number seventeen on the US Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 55,000 copies. After a while it peaked at number 2 on the US Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. And after that Tweet kind of fell off. She did some appearances in TV like The Parkers and in movies like Honey but other than that she was nowhere to be found.

I liked Tweet and I thought she was going to be big but for some reason she wasn't being pushed. I hope she does get back in the studio and adds some diversity to this music scene. When you have a variety of artists to choose from it makes music more interesting. So I hope Tweet signs up for this show and gets it!

Blu Cantrell was famous for her songs "Hit Em Up Style (Oops)" and "Breathe". "Hit Em Up
Style (Oops)" was a single off her debut album So Blu. This song earned Blu, 2 Grammy nominations Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and for Best R&B Song and she also was nominated for American Music Award for Favorite Soul/R&B New Artist all in 2002. Afterwards Blu Cantrell released her next album Bittersweet the lead single was a song called "Breathe feat Sean Paul", followed up by "Make Me Wanna Scream". Bittersweet was nominated for a Grammy in 2004 for Best R&B Album. She received worldwide attention for this album and the lead single. Afterwards Blu Cantrell's sexual past caught up with her and began to slowly kill her career. Before becoming an R&B songstress Blu posed for nude a magazine. Many people misconstrued the photos and accused her of being a pornstar. Afterwards the only thing you would hear about Blu Cantrell is her nude photos in magazines. The focus on her powerhouse voice and sound was shifted toward scandalous rumors and gossip. After years of nothing Blu is set to release an album this year if it isn't already out called I Am Blu. If she gets on R&B Divas New York she could make a major comeback.

Potential Cast:

Lisa Lisa
Sunshine Anderson
Blu Cantrell

Adina Howard

Well rumors about Drake leaving YMCMB have been circulating since he first signed to the record label. Everything from his money to his contract negotiations was gossiped and speculated about. Many reports claiming many things but nothing rang with any truth. Drake is often asked about his tenure in the YMCMB camp and he always responds with something along the lines of he and Lil Wayne are good friends and he's happy being apart of the record label or he dodges the question.

The rumors are swirling again about Drake leaving YMCMB. Nicki Minaj was on the phone with Flex at 97FM to originally discuss the DJ Khaled proposal incident. During the interview she was asked to address the rumors of Drake leaving and here's what she said:

“Drake is my baby. Whatever’s going on now, obviously, we’re all very busy. Sh*t happens. It gets hard to have a real connection when people are on different sides of the world. You never know what people have in their ear. Drake is my baby and Wayne is my everything.”

Check out the Interview Here:

Drake hasn't confirmed or denied anything and neither has Nicki. I remember when Nicki had her mini special on E! and Lil Wayne was talking to her about not being able to be to spend time with her or Drake. Seriously go to YouTube and find the clips or go to E! you'll see that he says it kind of coded but it was clear he was talking about Drake. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how this develops!

This is GOING to Be HARSH SO BE FOREWARNED I AIN'T PULLING NO PUNCHES!

What is this for? Not everyone is meant to be a music artist. Stay in your lane. All the producers, writers, etc, are wasting time and money on people with no talent when there are plenty of people who can sing beautifully. I'm not buying any of the music she puts out and I'm not condoning this BS! Nothing against you Ms. Hilton but just because you have a lot of money and look pretty doesn't mean you can sing or rap. Just do what you do best. You have a great shoe line and clothing line, the perfume you came out with is dope. Please just be a great socialite and entrepreneur. Seriously, a music artist? Please OK?

I'm tired of people who are not even trying to make good music. They're just in it for the money or to stay relevant. It's not cool and makes a mockery of the music industry and those artists who struggled before them. Now you come up with this? This is an insult to the real artists and music industry itself. You don't have to like ya'll I'm just speaking my mind!

Here's the tweet of her being welcomed into the YMCMB crew:

Can you tell how PISSED I AM RIGHT NOW?! Doesn't matter people are still going to buy her music without fail. And thats ok. I just want it on the record saying that I am NOT one of those people!

Listen to her a song off her 1st Album: Paris called "Stars Are Blind"

So I'm watching Wendy Williams which I watch regularly. I like Wendy Williams but she's severely messy and drama filled. But that's a blog for another day. Anyway she has a segment called Hot Topics in which she mentioned Kid Rock being upset with his friends Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake.

Apparently all these guys are good friends and are on good speaking terms. But Kid Rock feels like their ticket prices are outrageous and ridiculous. Wendy said that tickets for their concert was going for as much as $650 for tickets! She also explained how Kid Rock was totally against the outrageous prices and he thought his friends were being unreasonable with their ticket prices.

To offset the outrageous ticket prices that are being offered by his colleagues. Kid Rocks' tickets for his concert tour are starting at $20!  Kid Rock stands to lose anywhere from $50,000 - $100,000 from each show. He also has lowered the prices on parking, merchandise, and of course ticket prices.
According to Starpulse.com, in a recent interview with Piers Morgan Kid Rock had several statements for the outrageous ticket prices:
"It's garbage. It's highway robbery. I don't care who you are...I would consider both of them in a circle of friends in the business but I don't agree with it."
He went on to further state:
"It's gotten out of hand. The price of concerts, the price of entertainment period. You know, whether it's a sporting event, going to the movies, buying a soda there, whatever... I've always tried to keep prices what I think are fair. And I've always said I'm proud that I could walk around with my head held high and look someone in the eye, knowing that I haven't taken an un-honest dollar from a working man... I make a lot of money. I can take a pay cut."
Kid Rock has many businesses that he has invested in and started. He's a very wealthy man worth well over $37 million.

K. Michelle claims she's tired of the drama on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. And on several occasions she has mentioned that this season will be her last on the hard hitting reality drama. During a DC concert K. Michelle made a big announcement about her departure and had a little message for her co-stars as well. Here's what she said via Madamenoire.com
“I’m announcing that, I won’t be on ‘Love & Hip Hop’…I just feel like when God is brining you to the positive, it’s very hard to say ‘Thank you Jesus and f**k you b****es’,” she told fans during a D.C. concert.

There was a rumor that K. Michelle was getting her own show on VH1 and she confirmed that on a radio station during an interview in February via Madamenoire.com:
“God is just bringing me to a whole different place. My mouth is still bad. I drink and act a fool. But, I just don’t think that [Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta] is where I need to be. I do have my own show coming on VH1. You guys are gonna like that one a lot. You really are,” she said before going into her popular “I Just Wanna F**k” track.

Janelle Monae is an R&B/Soul/Pop artist that has been praised for her coiffed pompadour (which is traditionally a mans hairstyle) and her various tuxedo's which she wears at every event and every time she is in the public eye. Janelle Monae looks awesome on this cover. She doesn't make herself into some type of sex symbol. She's using classic timeless looks from both genders and creating a look of her own that works for her.

Some people are tired of seeing her tuxedo look but I'm not. I think she can spin that look into different versions if she just added a pop of color or wore a pencil skirt instead of a pair of slacks. Just a suggestion for me (which below I found a photo of that small pop of color I was suggesting earlier, she's light years ahead of me lol). I hope Janelle keeps on pushing with recently being named a spokes model for CoverGirl she's moving right along in Hollywood but doing it her terms!

According to MadameNoire.com Janelle has a particular message she's been trying to get out:

“People don’t ask Jay-Z to take his shirt off when he rhymes…I like skirts and dresses just like everyone else, but I had a message I needed to put out there. It was up to me to show people and young girls there was another way.”

Read more at http://madamenoire.com/270058/covergirl-is-a-cover-girl-janelle-monae-covers-may-issue-of-essence-talks-new-album-and-unique-style/#OSP2QSJfbo40Ruvi.99

Here's a snippet from the article available via FashionBombDaily.com of the Essence Interview:
"redefine what it means to be sexy and what it means to be a woman. Showing my skin is not what makes me sexy. I like skirts and dresses just like everyone else, but I had a message I needed to put out there. It was up to me to show people and young girls there was another way."
As I mentioned before Janelle is doing BIG things with her career her new album Electric Lady is coming out soon and she of course has her CoverGirl contract. She's graced the covers of other magazine's as well ELLE, Honey, JET, PRIDE, jones, RollingStones, north, BLURT and etc. The Huffington Post covered her CoverGirl announcement and how she felt about being considered a beauty icon.

She had some really great and inspiring things to say and I wanted to share it with you guys:
What’s the best beauty advice you’ve ever been given?
"You are only as beautiful as the many beautiful things you do for others without expectation."
We were so excited to hear that you were tapped to join CoverGirl's crew of beauties. How do you plan on inspiring your fans through your specific CoverGirl ads/commercials?
"I truly want to help redefine what it means to be a strong and beautiful woman in the music and fashion worlds. I'd love to encourage all women to embrace the wonderful things that make us unique. Becoming a CoverGirl is truly a gift--it opens up a new platform for me to inspire women to feel stronger, braver and more beautiful inside and out. I want everyone woman to know in her heart that she is already a CoverGirl."
Being a woman of color, does the role hold special significance?"Absolutely, I want every woman of color, women everywhere, to know we are all CoverGirls and to feel even more proud, more fearless, and more beautiful inside and out!"

Like many former R&B artists and current R&B artists. SWV "Sisters With Voices" seems to in talks with WEtv network to get their own reality show. SWV is an R&B power group from the 90s. They were responsible for hits like "Right Here" a remake of Michael Jackson's Human Nature, "I'm So Into You", "Weak", "Rain", "You're Always On My Mind", "Downtown" & "Anything"

Coko, "Taj" Tamara Johnson-George, & Leanne "Lelee" Lyons the original and only members of SWV disbanded in 1998 to pursue personal projects. Coko pursued a promising and somewhat stagnant career in gospel music (which was the groups original direction), Taj Tamar Johnson-George married then Tennessee Titan football player Eddie George, starred in a 2 reality shows Survivor: Tocantins, and I Married a Baller, Leanne "Lelee" Lyons pursued music and personal endeavors.

The show is going to chronicle the groups return to music and the reasoning for their initial breakup. The show is produced by eOne Entertainment group. Its rumored that WEtv would be the network to run the show but according to RealityFab.com nothing is being confirmed or denied about the shows run.

SWV has already shot the pilot for the show last fall. Hopefully a release date will be set and the show will run.

I'm PUMPED about this! I've expressed my severe disdain for reality tv on many occasions but in this case I'm excited, I loved SWV as a kid. I'm a 90s kid so music for me was the New Jack Swing style R&B and the transition of Hip Hop/Rap from gangster life to fun party music. And SWV was the most successful R&B group of their time. They were better than Xscape, Brownstone, Jade, 702, Changing Faces, and Total. That's just my opinion not knocking the other groups, I'm just making a personal statement. They had the harmony, melody, the look, and they were just FREAKING AWESOME! I can't wait until they come out with their television show!

If they do have the show on WEtv they will join the Braxtons and Mary Mary as alums on the network. WEtv is building a superior lineup of reality shows and turning into a female powerhouse for reality TV. Keep it Up WEtv, I'll be watching for sure.

No word on when the show is set to be released. If the network like the pilot I expect the show to run promos and be released later on this year or next year. This is just a guess!

SWV released an album in 2011 called I Missed Us. Its available now on iTunes, Amazon.com, and Google Play!

"Nicole Scherzinger"

Nicole Scherzinger is in the fire this week for her recent interview in The Indpendent. She spoke boldly and freely about her limited success as a solo artist. Here's a small piece of her interview via MadameNoiere.com:

Within two years, [Nicole] had left Eden’s Crush, and was recruited into Pussycat Dolls, a pop act   created by a record- company executive that aimed to combine burlesque titillation with catchy, commercial songs. “My first response when I was invited to join was, No way!” she admits. k “I come from a strong religious background, and I had a very conservative upbringing. So I was nervous, and confused. Here I was wanting to be Whitney Houston, so why did I have to dress in lingerie to do that? I didn’t get it.”
The demands of going to work in her bra and pants soon took its perhaps inescapable toll. From the very moment she became part of the group, Scherzinger was instructed to lose weight. That she didn’t need to lose weight was immaterial, she says. “I simply did as I was told. You know, I didn’t have the confidence to go around in all that lingerie. I’m a crazy b***h now, of course, and I’m all over that, I love it, I embrace it. But back then? Back then, I wasn’t comfortable at all. I’d never worn stuff like that in my life.”
With these kind of songs, I don’t feel I have to justify myself to anyone. I come from the most religious family – my grandfather is a priest – and if they support me in all this, and they do, then I’m OK. I’m being sassy and classy; I’m having fun. I’m not coming from a dark place. To be honest with you, I sometimes wish I were more slutty. I’d probably be a lot more successful if I were.”
“This is such a tough industry, you know. To make it, you really have to sell your soul to the devil.”
And has she?
She turns back to face the mirror, and closes her eyes. Her make-up artist resumes her work. “No, I haven’t. That’s probably why I haven’t quite reached the top of my mountain. I mean, where’s my Tony Award, my Grammy, my Oscar? Why don’t I have any of those things yet?”
